Foreword by Assoc. Prof. Tihomir Luković, PhD editor Nine years ago, in 2015, 14 authors who worked on the book/textbook “Nautical Tourism of Croatia” gathered on the project of the first comprehensive Croatian textbook. In the past nine years, in Croatia, but also outside Croatia, there have been significant changes and new insights in nautical tourism. Nautical tourism as a course is present at almost all universities and polytechnics in the Croatian coast, because its importance for the coastal economy has been understood, but it is also developed in most countries in Europe and the world.
As a researcher who has been involved in nautical tourism for 50 years, researching it and unifying insights from all over Europe, especially the Mediterranean and Croatia, I know that the scientific and research achievements of numerous Croatian experts are high, but insufficiently known outside Croatia. Therefore, I want to correct this injustice with a textbook in English that will be available to readers in Europe and the world.

And now about this book.
Therefore, I am grateful and pleased to be the editor of this new book under the same title “Nautical Tourism of Croatia, Second Updated Edition”, which brought together 26 authors who are at the very top of Croatian research in the field of nautical tourism. The approach to this book was focused on the economic aspect of nautical tourism, as well as the maritime segment, as well as the current Croatian legislation. Scientific thought has no boundaries and must constantly develop, so for this book, the day of its publication must be “yesterday” for all of us, because we must know more “tomorrow”.
The special quality of this textbook is not just listing facts or statistical data, but entering into discussions, critical scientific thinking, pointing out problems with proposed solutions. The development of critical thought about nautical tourism is important for Croatia and its future, but also for all other countries that realize their investments and development in various forms of nautical tourism. This means that new knowledge and insights are needed by everyone, because the required dynamics of development must be achieved, and not through investments and takeovers by foreign capital, but within domestic entrepreneurship to which all nautical tourism entities belong.
I would like to especially thank all the authors of this Croatian textbook and book, as well as the reviewers, and express my pleasure that we have come together on this project.
