The sequence of unusual tales begins with Danica, a woman gifted with the power of prophecy, who chose care for her loved ones over romantic love. Her life is marked by the burden of judgment from the community she lives in. Her daughter Gemma inherits not only the gift but also a life filled with challenges. The stories continue with Nora, Gemma’s granddaughter, an adventurer who travels the world with her partner Ben, encountering supernatural and mysterious phenomena, often on the threshold between the real and the unreal, while also confronting her own legacy. She is guided through life’s turning points by two mentors: her grandmother Gemma from This World, and her great-grandmother Danica from the Other Side. Their journeys lead Nora and Ben to places steeped in history, secrets, and legend, realms where mysticism clashes with reason. Mysterious elements such as the sacred snakes that appear once a year in a church on Kefalonia, the Pokaini forest in Latvia rumoured to hold a portal to another world, a ghost-haunted bridge in Scotland, and the enigmatic Maltese temples, serve not only as metaphors for the characters’ inner worlds but also as pivotal points in the plot. The stories explore themes of loss, legacy, and inner strength, as the characters grapple with fate and free will. Nora’s travels merge the real and the otherworldly, making her a bridge between past and future. Through her journeys, the voice of her great-grandmother Danica helps her reconnect with her heritage.

Ivana Miletić is a seeker of inner worlds and deeper meanings of existence, a gatherer of thoughts and subtle shades that elude the casual eye. Through art, she nourishes her innate curiosity, while writing and photography serve as her way of expressing, perceiving, and revealing the unseen layers of reality. Though she holds a degree and a PhD in fisheries science and has gained professional experience both in Croatia and abroad, her inner journey has never ceased.
